The problem

Making a REST API callable by AI agents like Claude over the Model Context Protocol normally means hand-writing a separate tool definition for every single endpoint — duplicating routes, request schemas, and validation that already exist in the app. It's tedious to write and it silently drifts out of sync the moment the API changes.

The solution

restmcp introspects an existing Express or NestJS app at startup, generates OpenAPI and JSON Schema straight from the real routes (reusing NestJS DTOs and class-validator decorators where available), and mounts a single POST /mcp endpoint — so any MCP-compatible AI client can call the API as tools with zero duplicate definitions to maintain.
